The Schtick: Distilled by Benrinnes and aged for 21 years, this cask strength release is out there for about $400 worldwide. Coincidentally, I saw this first in Scotland and realized it was less expensive to purchase at home, which I did. I am a big fan of Benrinnes but have been chasing the dragon of greatness that was their 23yr release from years back. This is matured quite differently, but I havent had a chance to have much old Benrinnes in my time, so this was a must grab. Lets get into it.

Nose: Honey, apples and pears, brittle candy and caramels, rich brioche and sweet brown sugar.

Taste: Rich palate, caramel candies, candied peaches and apples, light industrial funk and petrol, crisp minerality, brown butter and brioche, some pepper. Nice oak integration, proof is bang on. Delightful.

Finish: Long finish, loads of sweet cake bread, honey, toffee, maple, brioche, some pepper and slate, minerality and a light industrial funk, pears, peaches and toffee finish.

Overall: I really quite like this one and it brings with it what I would consider to be very characteristic Benrinnes character, but dialed up a bit. The brioche and minerality with the petrol-y funk here is just awesome.

Thanks for reading!
