Nose: Rich brown sugar and big bold cinnamon. It’s punchy on the nose, loaded with spice, a good bit of toffee and brown sugar, caramel candies and a touch of red fruits and apple butter.
Taste: Rich on the palate. It’s pretty easy drinking for the proof and it’s got plenty of oak, but not too much. Apples butter note is really prominent here: apple, apple skin, cinnamon, some nutmeg, brown sugar, little bit of this pie crust thing going on. Really quite nice here.
Finish: Long finish, probably my favorite part. Viscous, hangs around a bit, loads of apple butter, brown sugar, brown butter, maple and pie crust with this big, peppery, oaky backbone.
Overall: Well, the Colonel is in the house and this is really quite nice – balanced, bold, loaded with sweet and spice. 2024 was a good year, I’ll say.
