Maxim reported on Tuesday that WhistlePig and the “Super Troopers” stars are releasing a bottle of cannabis-infused maple syrup just in time for 4/20. For just $75, you too can celebrate 4/20 with a “lifted” take on a maple syrup Old Fashioned using WhistlePig Piggy Back Rye thanks to a bottle of delicious, cannabis-infused, syrupy goodness.
This year’s release marks the second collaboration between WhistlePig and the “Super Troopers” stars. WhistlePig brilliantly teased the release with a March 27th listing of the brand’s “Maple Sugar Shack” on Zillow. The whiskey brand claimed it evicted the “Super Troopers” comedy group Broken Lizard from the property — maybe for smoking too much weed, who knows — and was listing its 966 square-foot shack for $4.2 million.
The syrup is called WhistlePig Limited-Edition Non-Psychoactive Troopers Edition Sticky Icky Natural Cannabis Terpene Infused Barrel-Aged Maple Syrup — now imagine saying that five times fast after erm, partaking in a 4/20 celebration. The key point here is the “non-psychoactive” part of this label, meaning that it’s not supposed to get you high.
The brand announced the release in an April 16 Instagram post, sharing how the cannabis effects its distinctive profile.
“Close the door, meow! That terpene aroma was meant to linger. Meet Sticky Icky – our newest Trooper collab: pure Vermont maple syrup aged in WhistlePig barrels, infused with aromatic “herbs,” and yes… totally non-psychoactive. It’s all flavor, no fog — and it comes bundled with Piggy Back Rye because this syrup is meant to be in your Smoked Maple Old Fashioned.”
WhistlePig shared on its socials that it recommends refrigerating its maple syrup after opening it to preserve its lifespan.
This wouldn’t be the first cannabis-themed release the Vermont whiskey brand has let out into the wild. In January 2024, WhistlePig released Dank January Limited Edition Dank & Dry Old Fashioned Cocktail. The brand wanted to add a bit of spice to Dry January and released a bottled nonalcoholic cocktail with non-psychoactive cannabis terpenes.
We don’t exactly know what the folks over there are smoking — but it’s a vibe, and we’re cool with it.
