It’s been quite a week as far as whiskey releases go. The releases for this week include a type of Irish whiskey that has been all but forgotten and an alien-inspired bourbon. In short, the bottles — and cans — we’ve included for the week of June 27th make this week one to remember.

This week’s round-up features offerings from Barrell Craft Spirits, Two Stacks, Chattanooga Whiskey, Heaven Hill and Michigan’s own Coppercraft Distillery.

Bourbon Batch 037 by Barrell Craft Spirits

Fred Minnick reported on Barrell Craft Spirits’ recent drop of Batch 037 bourbon on June 26.

The blend features a mix of bourbons from Indiana with 8-, 11- and 12- year age statements coupled with a blend of Tennessee and Kentucky bourbons. The Tennessee bourbons are 13-,14-, and 15-year bourbons, and the Kentucky bourbon is 10 years of age. The final whiskey clocks in at 111.38 proof.

Barrell Craft shares that the whiskey has a mashbill of 78% corn, 18% rye and 4% malted barley. The spirits brand shares that this bourbon possesses a fruit-driven nose, with Granny Smith aromas and salted caramel. On the palate, Barrell Craft shares that the acidity carries through, with attractive ginger spice, orange and pine needle flavors. The finish lingers with warm spiced pineapple.

Batch “Alpha”: Intergalactic Comet Crusher by Chattanooga Whiskey

Sci-fi fans, Breaking Bourbon reported that Chattanooga Whiskey’s most recent release fell to earth on June 24th, and if you’re into aliens and UFOs, this might just be the whiskey you’ve been looking for. This mystery whiskey costs $49.99 and was released on World UFO Day.

With a proof of 84 and bright neon green packaging — as evidenced by the brand’s Instagram page — Chattanooga’s Batch “Alpha” Intergalactic Comic Crusher is available at the brand’s Experimental Distillery. The brand claims this bourbon liqueur “6EQUJ5” involves a mixture of 42 botanicals, and the top-secret spirit was drawn from 12 barrels within Chattanooga’s stocks. We’re not exactly sure if this qualifies as a “whiskey” per se, but we just had to include this distinctive alien-inspired release in our weekly round-up. It was too wild not to.

This Tennessee brand shares that Chattanooga’s whiskey has notes similar to “having your brains smashed out by a bag of lemons dipped in 24 karat gold.” Sounds out of this world.

9-Year-Old Bourbon by Coppercraft Distillery

The Whiskey Wash reported on June 24 that Coppercraft Distillery dropped a 9-year-old straight bourbon. Coppercraft shares that it sourced the liquid from Indiana’s whiskey powerhouse, MGP. The brand sources bourbons a minimum of 9 years of age or older. Coppercraft was founded in Holland, Michigan in 2012, and the West Michigan brand specializes in single batches and craft bourbons.

Coppercraft Distillery shares that it is still a fairly young brand, which explains its choice to source for this extended-age release. According to The Whiskey Wash, the brand used barrels from Kelvin, ISC, and Speyside cooperages with a number 3 char to age this whiskey.

Copper Craft’s 9-Year-Old Bourbon hosts a suggested retail price of $37.99 and clocks in at a modest final proof of 99.

Grain-to-Glass Rye by Heaven Hill

Heaven Hill’s Grain-to-Glass series launched in June 2024, according to a press release published in The Lane Report. The splashy series made waves and was 8 years in the making. The series consists of three core expressions that highlight “the very beginning ” of distillation — “the seed.”

Fast forward a year later and the brand released the second whiskey within its 2025 series, a Grain-To-Glass Rye. Fred Minnick reported on the release on June 24. The whiskey for 2025 offering features a mashbill of 63% rye, 20% corn and 13% malt. The outlet reports that the percentage of rye grain is higher than Heaven Hill’s standard rye whiskey. The whiskey clocks in at 105.2 proof.

A 700 ml bottle hosts a suggested retail price of $99.99.

Single Grain Double Barrel Irish Whiskey by Two Stacks

Two Stacks decided to shine a light on a typically maligned category of Irish whiskey: Irish grain whiskey. The brand released Single Grain Double Barrel Irish Whiskey in both 700 ml sustainable bottles and — interestingly enough — cans. The brand’s 100 ml Dram in a Can hosts a $6.99 MSRP and a bottle of Two Stacks Single Grain Double Barrel Irish Whiskey costs $44.99.

Two Stack’s Single Grain Double Barrel Irish Whiskey features a mashbill derived from 94% corn and 6% Irish malted barley. The brand shared that it spent 3 to 5 years aging in bourbon barrels with an additional 1 to 3 years in Oloroso sherry casks.

With a modest proof of 86, the brand shares that this Irish whiskey features coconut, dried fruit and baking spice aromas.
