The Spirits Business reported that Garrison Brothers donated $100,000 to the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund after a successful fundraiser for the flood victims in Texas Hill Country.
“Texans look after Texans,” the brand’s Co-Founder Nancy Garrison said in a statement. “Our team quickly decided to earmark a $50 donation on every Cask-Strength Guadalupe Single Barrel that we sold on July 12 as well as donate 100% of our profits from gift shop merchandise and The Whiskey Shack sales to help flood victims. Today’s check — and Happy State Bank’s 100% match — proves good Bourbon really can change the world.”
In early July, the Texas whiskey brand joined forces with other distilleries in a pledge to help support those affected by the catastrophic floods that took place on July 4. Garrison Brothers shared it would donate $50 from the sale of each bottle of Guadalupe Cask Strength starting July 12 to Kerr County’s Flood Relief Fund.
The brand held “Guadalupe Relief Day” on the 12th of July, and its nonprofit arm, Good Bourbon for a Good Cause, raised $50,000 for relief efforts. The distillery additionally posted a link for volunteers to donate funds, and has raised $10,000 thus far. The link is set to stay live through October 1.
The brand’s Guadalupe bourbon hosts an ABV of 53.5% and is priced at $160. The release dropped on July 8, and just 8,600 bottles were available in the initial rollout. The whiskey rolled out at its traditional 107 proof, and a cask-strength expression was released alongside it. The cask strength Guadalupe Bourbon ranged from 123.9 to 129.8 proof.
The bourbon took its name after the Guadalupe River, and it was cut down to proof with Texas rainwater. The whiskey spent time finishing in port casks from a nearby winery for two years. The whiskey was a bit of a cult favorite, and it was shaped by Texas’s intense temperature shifts.
Garrison Brothers shared that the whiskey boasts aromas of lavender honey, cinnamon-dusted chocolate and strawberry butter flavors.
