The Schtick: Distilled by Benrinnes and released by Diageo under what i believe is the Flora and Fauna series, based on some light googling, this is an OB Benrinnes that tempted me overseas enough to snag for a good price. Lets get to it.

Review #2590 | Scotch Review #957

Distiller: Benrinnes

Bottler: Benrinnes

Brand: Benrinnes

Selection:

ABV: 43% ABV

Age: NAS

Nose: Brown butter, soft pepper, apples and pears, peaches and figs. Lovely brown sugar, less diesel character than I’ve gotten in others. Gorgeous complexity, light slate and baking spice.

Taste: Moderate palate, pleasant caramels and honey, pears and baked apples, brown sugar and cinnamon. Effervescent and opulent, grows with complexity and introduces some red fruits.

Finish: Red vines, toffee, vanilla bean, brown butter, creme brûlée, light diesel industrial character and tons of pepper and slate. Great oak integration.

Overall: A silly good OB from Diageo and a testament that Benrinnes can be quite fun when it (or Diageo) wants it to be. It its no 23 year from yesteryear but it is good fun and delicious, despite the lower proof.

Thanks for reading!
