The Schtick: Produced primarily from Ugni Blanc, this release nods to a distillation date of 1970 and therefore would be about 50 years old (if not a schmidge more) – bottled at 46.3% ABV and released in 2023 (or so) – Through The Grapevine is well regarded and this pour has big shoes to fill.

Nose: Gorgeous apple, white grape, pear on the nose, light cinnamon spice, some pepper, light ginger, soft wood and sweet caramels.

Taste: Rich on the palate, caramel and honey, sweet apple crisp, cinnamon, pear and blackberry. Fresh, crisp, acidic, balanced and fruit driven with light butterscotch and brûlée in the background.

Finish: Long finish, pleasant oak, sweet cream, white grape, blackberry and dates.

Overall: Lovely pour, gorgeous complexity and lots of great character here.

Thanks for reading!
