The Schtick: Distilled in 1993 and aged for 28 years, this single cask from the well known Scotch producer was bottled after full maturation in a PX Puncheon (we think – Glendro are notorious for re-racking) and bottled at cask strength without coloring or filtering. This puncheon yielded 659 bottles and was bottled for the FL Market. Let’s dive in.
Disclosure: None. I purchased this at retail.

Review #2614 | Whiskey Review #964
Distiller: GlenDronach
Bottler: GlenDronach
Brand: GlenDronach
Selection: FL Market Single Cask
ABV: 53.3% ABV
Age: 28 Years
Nose: A pop of ethanol at first, but gives way quickly to gorgeous and rich, nutty, sherry. Raisin bread, deep stewed fruits, honey, toffee, fudge-y cocoa and caramels. Brown butter and nutty, date fruit and a hint of oak. Opulently dessert-y with tons of sherry.
Taste: Thick and heavy palate, layered and fully of syrupy, dessert-y flavors. A prickle of ethanol gives way to tons of stewed fruits, apples, pears, rich oak, toffee, buttercream, nutty sherry and heavy, stewed, date fruits and Turkish delight.
Finish: Long finish, so heavy and dense, layered, fat and rich. Dessert driven with tons of caramels, toffee, tobacco and date fruit.
Overall: This single cask is a beast, and its signature Glendronach with all of the best notes out front. If you like a sherry bomb in 2025, there’s only one place to look for dependable, high age, single casks and that’s Glendronach.
