Review #2633 | Whiskey Review #975
Distiller: Glenrothes
Bottler: SMWS
Brand: SMWS
Selection: None – General Release
ABV: 59.9% ABV
Age: 16 Years
Nose: Super rich here – boisterous is indeed the word – super rich sherry, nutty, full of dates and caramels and raisin bread. Some undertones of vanilla custard, nougat and toffee candies. Light oak, proof sneaks right by, plentiful oak. A dessert!
Taste: Rich on the palate: apples, figs, raisins, nutty but with some tropical notes as well: mango, papaya, coconut. Pleasant oak, gobs of sherry. It’s a sweet toother of a pour but a complex one at that.
Finish: Long finish – touch of heat here but full of flavor and loaded with warm toffee, plenty of raisin bread and stewed fruit and date sherry.
Overall: I quite like this pour. There’s a good bit more going on that I usually get in a Glenrothes sherry cask and the complexity and fun tropical character is really a fun fruit stand to dig through with this pour.
