Review #2648 | Whiskey Review #1139

Distiller: Michter’s

Bottler: Hirsch

Brand: A.H. Hirsch

Selection: None – General Release

ABV: 45.8% ABV

Age: 16 Years

Nose: Rich brown butter and honey, toffee, tobacco. Dusty wood, old parchment, cherries and pipe tobacco. Rich. Unbelievably rich.

Taste: Rich and oaky palate, plentifully woody and viscous despite a lower proof. Cherries, big oak, bitter tannin, pipe tobacco, sweet cream and tons of toffee drives here. Decadent and rich. Goes to show once more – proof isn’t everything. I’d put this palate against so many things.

Finish: Gorgeous finish – plenty long, loaded with sweet oak, vanilla bean and creamy sweetness and a good deal of tannin, cherry and pipe tobacco as well.

Overall: I don’t have as much experience with Hirsch from past years and as I taste this, I regret it more and more. It makes me want to try them all. This is decadent and enjoyable, well aged and full of well aged bourbon notes, sweet cream, gorgeous old oak and tons of fruit and tobacco that makes it easy to love. It’s so wonderfully good.

Thanks for reading!
