best whiskeys

Though it may be Friday the 13th, there’s nothing unlucky about the best whiskey releases we’ve gone ahead and rounded up this week.

Plenty of these selections pay homage to the past in some way, from J. Rieger’s Monogram Kansas City release that honors the brand’s pre-Prohibition roots, or Wyoming Whiskey’s release that celebrates one of the most important figures in America’s Wild West.

Read on for some of the most innovative and interesting whiskeys that dropped this week.

2025 Monogram Kansas City Whiskey Solera Reserve by J. Rieger

Kansas City’s J. Rieger announced the release of what the brand refers to as the “crown jewel” of its portfolio on June 11 — J. Rieger 2025 Monogram Kansas City Whiskey Solera Reserve.

The 2025 Monogram Kansas City Whiskey Solera Reserve serves as a nod to the brand’s pre-Prohibition whiskeys and honors J. Rieger’s legacy, which dates back to 1887. This 50% ABV whiskey is a blend of bourbon, rye, and light corn whiskey that spent time finishing in 500-liter Oloroso Sherry botas from William & Humbert Solera Especial in Jerez, Spain. A small amount of 15-year-old Oloroso sherry is added to the final blend for a little extra “oomph.”

This vintage-themed whiskey has a suggested retail price of $130 for each 750 ml bottle.

Isle of Raasay Distillery by The Macallan

The Spirits Business reported on June 10 about the launch of The Macallan Foundation’s third whisky for charity, the Isle of Raasay distillery. It clocks in at 61.1% ABV and just 246 bottles are available.

The juice spends time maturing in virgin Chinkapin oak casks, and it is an unpeated spirit. Co-Founder of Isle of Raasay Distillers, Alasdair Day, claims the whisky is savory, with plenty of sea salt characteristics and a spicy finish.

The Speyside whisky icon’s latest charitable release is priced at $156, and proceeds from purchases are set to go to drilling, bringing life-giving water to the people of Madagascar. The Spirits Business reports that each borehole costs $8,000 and The Macallan Foundation has funded 20 boreholes.

Stitzel Reserve 24-Year-Old Bourbon by Stitzel-Weller

Diageo announced on June 9 a new release signifying the return of an icon: Stitzel-Weller 24 Year Old. This 61.7% ABV bourbon is available at the distillery itself, and the brand shares that the price is available upon request, which means it’s probably going to cost a pretty penny.

Stitzel-Weller has a rich history that dates back to 1935 and is one of the icons of the bourbon world. The brand is behind popular whiskeys like Orphan Barrel, Blade And Bow and I.W. Harper.

Diageo’s Director of American Whiskey Liquid Development and Capabilities for Diageo Nicole Austin, personally selected the barrels of this 24-year-old bourbon, and she chose juice from 9 barrels. Austin shared that this liquid is a heady symphony of cracked leather, burnt sugar and saddle oil.

8 Year Rye Whiskey by Woodinville Whiskey Co.

The Manual reported on June 8 that Woodinville Whiskey Co. was releasing its oldest rye yet. The liquid spent eight years maturing in Quincy, Washington State. The brand’s rye was distilled exclusively from a mashbill consisting of 100% Washington State Rye.

The brand shares that this rye offers up dark molasses aromas, coupled with big brown sugar. The palate is full of cinnamon and dark honey, coupled with dried cranberries. A lingering warm finish has a crack of black pepper.

Woodinville Whiskey Co. 8 Year Rye Whiskey clocks in at 50% ABV and features a suggested retail price of $129.99.

Buffalo Bill Cody Bourbon by Wyoming Whiskey

Fred Minnick reported that Wyoming Whiskey dropped a bourbon on June 9 that pays homage to one of the Wild West’s most legendary figures — Buffalo Bill Cody. Cody was a legendary showman who ran the Buffalo Bill Wild West show, which featured the talents of the legendary sharpshooter, Annie Oakley.

Cody’s 6-year-old bourbon was distilled from grains farmed in Wyoming, and the blend of liquid was sourced from 26 barrels. Clocking in at 97 proof, Buffalo Bill Cody Bourbon has a suggested retail price of $79.99.

Wyoming Whiskey’s Master Blender claims this bourbon has aromas of leather, and tobacco with a “comforting sweetness.”
