Green River Distilling and Four Branches Bourbon are releasing special, limited-edition bottles to celebrate the 250th U.S. Army Anniversary on June 14. Four Branches Bourbon hosts a price of $119 and Green River Distilling’s offering clocks in at $49.99.
Four Branches Bourbon named the release “The Continental,” and the release is a personal one. This Kentucky bourbon brand was founded by veterans from the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines. The brand’s flagship bourbon originates from a mashbill composed of four grains, and Four Branches donates portions of its proceeds to support veteran and first responder nonprofit organizations like Folds of Honor and The Third Option Foundation.
Green River Distilling has a lengthy history that dates back to 1885, making it Kentucky’s 10th oldest licensed distillery. After a highly successful start, Green River Distilling experienced extensive damage from a fire in 1918, and in 1955 the bourbon brand stopped distributing. Green River changed hands for a few years, but eventually fell into disrepair and stayed abandoned until the investors brought the brand back to life in 2014. The revitalized bourbon brand is currently under the stewardship of its parent company, Lofted Spirits.

Green River Distilling’s U.S. Army Anniversary Bottling

Green River’s 250th U.S. Army Anniversary bourbon launches on June 14, and clocks in at 111.1 proof to pay homage to Veteran’s Day — November 11. The team drew the small-batch bourbon from a selection of 4- and 7-year-old barrels. Green River’s team distilled this limited-release from a mashbill composed of 77% corn, 14% rye and 9% malted barley.
“This whiskey is a salute to 250 years of courage, commitment and sacrifice,” said Lofted Spirits CEO Mark Erwin in a statement. “As both a veteran and a leader in American whiskey, it’s an honor to raise a glass to the U.S. Army and the millions who have served to defend the freedom we cherish.”
Green River shares that this whiskey possesses a bouquet full of cocoa, peppermint and black cherry aromas. The palate leads with toasted oak and toffee, coupled with light spice. The brand claims the pour concludes with a bold finish.
The Continental by Four Branches Bourbon

This limited-release whiskey takes its name from the U.S. Military’s first formal organization, the Continental Army. It features a 9-year age statement, clocks in at 102 proof and is distilled from a mashbill composed of 75% corn, 13% rye and 12% malted barley.
“Serving our country was an honor and created a bond between us as founders and all the other servicemen we worked with,” Four Branches Bourbon Co-Founder Rick said in a statement. “The Continental is a specially created bourbon worthy of this unique anniversary.”
Four Branches Bourbon divulges that this whiskey possesses flavors of maple, honey and caramel. The creamy pour finishes with oak.
