The Schtick: Distilled by Benrinnes and aged for 15 years in a refill PX cask, this release was bottled for the Spirit of Speyside Whiskey Festival 2024 and was bottled at barrel strength with no coloring or filtering. I’ve been on quite the Benrinnes hunt lately, and I’ve been enjoying gathering the notes for this release. Lets get to it.

Nose: Spirit-y on the nose and full of rich fruits: honey, creamy vanilla, peaches, apricots, pears, apple butter, a hint of candied cherry and lovely tropical fruit. Nutty sherry pops in here from time to time, pleasant oak.
Taste: Rich on the palate, there’s a prickle of ethanol but oozes with fruit, nutty sherry, rich caramels and vibrancy. Candied pears, peaches, apricots and red berries meets fig, stewed fruits and a hint of apple butter. Pleasant caramel character and stacks of vanilla creaminess. Moderate oak, balanced. Distillate and fig forward.
Finish: Long finish – star of the show. Gorgeous fruits, sherry, complex oak and tons of dessert character, vanilla and nougat.
Overall: It’s unusually vibrant for a Benriness, subbing industrial funk for bright fruits and tons of dessert and candied fruit character. Whew – lovely.
