The Schtick: Distilled by D’Aurensan in 2006 and aged for 15 years, this is a release I’ve looked forward to writing up for a good long time.

Review #2602 | Armagnac Review #

Distiller: Domaine dAurensan

Bottler: Domaine dAurensan

Brand:

Selection:

ABV: 42.8% ABV

Age: 15 Years

Nose: Gorgeous cherry, balsamic, apple cider vinegar, cola, root beer, big sweet oak, plum and dates on the nose. There’s so much going on, it’s so vibrant yet deep, powerful and complex.

Taste: Fabulously rich, syrupy, viscous and heavy on the palate. Cherry cola, big date fruits, anise, pepper, tobacco. Gobs of sweetness, light oak, well integrated. Luxardo and pipe tobacco notes.

Finish: Long finish, a touch dry and dripping with maple, honey, tobacco, date fruits, luxardo cherry, blackberry and blackberry.

Overall: Age isn’t everything, this release hits darn near every note I could want and demonstrates an incredible richness with balancing tannin and spice. Incredible.

Thanks for reading!
