The Schtick: Ah yes, an age long ago with Four Roses. This is the 2013 release of their Four Roses Single Barrel Limited Edition. It features the OBSK mash bill, was aged for 14 years in warehouse / rick / tier BS 3-H and I am looking forward to this one. Let’s get to it.

Nose: Big cinnamon, heavy brown sugar, some tobacco, big pepper, lovely ginger and tons of spice. Orange peel, vanilla bean, caramels.

Taste: Rich palate, lovely and syrupy. Brown sugar, toffee, vanilla bean. Big spice. Pepper, clove, candied ginger. Orange peel, some cherry, spicy spicy spicy and balanced with all of that oak, brown sugar and vanilla. It’s full of spice, Four Roses distillate showing snappy and powerful.

Finish: Long finish, perfect balance of spice and honey, black tea, sweet tea, vanilla bean, toffee and caramel. I love how zesty and spicy this is one moment on the finish and creamy and sweet it is in another moment.

Overall: In some instances, they just don’t make ‘em like they used to. This is a bruiser of spice, dessert, oak and classic four roses fruit salad and zesty baking spice throughout. Gorgeous and well done.

Thanks for reading!
