The Schtick: “Traveling west towards home” is the cheeky SMWS bottling for a 12 year, unpeated, Bunnahabhain matured entirely in first fill ex-PX barriques. IT’s bottled at cask strength with no coloring or filtering. Let’s get to it!

Selection: None – General Release

ABV: 61.3% ABV

Nose: Super sweet vanilla cream, icing, cake batter, lovely nougat and a hint of tropical fruit, lime and lemon zest. It’s rich and the dessert / icing note is really prominent.

Taste: Moderate to rich palate: creamy vanilla, graham cracker, orange peel and lemon, aromatic and perfume-y. Loads of vanilla icing and cake batter, tropical fruits and pineapple.

Finish: Short but clean, crisp and tropical.

Overall: This pour is a trip. It’s wild how tropical it presents and just how dynamic it is for a Bunnahabhain. It’s a touch hot here or there and the finish could use some complexity but dang, I’m glad it’s on my shelf.

Thanks for reading!
