Review #2649 | Whiskey Review #985
Distiller: Ardbeg
Bottler: Ardbeg
Brand: Ardbeg
Selection: None – General LTO Release
ABV: 52.2% ABV
Age: NAS
Nose: Big big peat up front – honey, toffee, buttercream and red fruits. Lots of lemon, ash, the stank of the sea and burning wood.
Taste: Palate is moderate on the mouthfeel, pleasant and drinks way under proof but also a bit lighter mouthfeel. Ash strikes first, followed by graham cracker, honeysuckle, toffee, red berries and some date fruit.
Finish: Long finish, smoke dominated with primarily ash, cedar, some minerality and peaty smoke with touches of honey, lemon, and blackberry and fig.
Overall: Overall, I quite like this although it is a touch disjointed. The nose and palate are less peaty with the finish carrying big big peat notes. It’s very good but doesn’t quite climb higher.
