The Schtick: Distilled, aged and bottled by Bruichladdich, this release is a 14yr old malt as part of their limited series many years ago called ‘Links’ – a limited bottling to highlight specific holes of specific golf courses. It’s bottled at 46% ABV and you can only keep something in the cabinet for so many years and tonight is Burns so why not. Let’s get to it.
Disclosure: None. Bottle from my collection.

ABV: 46% ABV

Nose: Bright fruits: apple, pears, stewed fruits and figs hits immediately with a touch of cherry as well – feels like there’s some wine cask action here. Malty and bright, full of vanilla, toffee, some minerality. Unpeated clearly.
Taste: Enjoyable mouthfeel – medium in viscosity, nice texture. Honey, red berries, strawberries and cream, some caramels and minerality.
Finish: Long finish, fruit driven here with lovely oak, vanilla and custard, lemon curd and strawberries and cream once more.
Overall: This release is more novelty than behemoth but it’s enjoyable, layered, and honestly one of the better 46% releases I’ve had the opportunity to try from older stocks. It does well at the proof, is balanced, and quite fun.
Thanks for reading!
