Distiller: Tamdhu
Bottler: La Maison Du Whisky
Brand: La Maison du Whisky
Selection: None – General Release
ABV: 60.6% ABV
Age: 16 Years
Nose: Rich plums and cherries, vanilla bean and cocoa, luxardo and blackberry with plentiful stewed fruits and pipe tobacco. Rich, dense.
Taste: Pleasant palate, a pang of ethanol for a moment, but well restrained. Figs and blackberries, a hint of sulfur. Loads of sherried character. Surprisingly grows hot over the time on the palate. Pleasant and lovely, heavy sherry.
Finish: Shorter finish, a bit hot here. The sherry takes over a bit. Not as complex, but loaded with fig and fruits.
Overall: Overall, this isn’t the best Tamdhu I’ve had, and it’s a bit of a head scratcher after the elegance of the Ardmore, but it’s far from bad as well. Tamdhu can reach high shelves with Indies, but this isn’t my favorite.
