Green River, the 10th oldest whiskey brand in Kentucky that is currently experiencing a meteoric rise, announced on Monday that it was opening the doors of a brand new tasting room in Louisville’s storied whiskey row. The space sits at 714 W. Main Street and is 4,400 square feet.
The brand shared that it does not require advanced appointments at the moment, and guests can simply walk in and book their tastings at the space.
“This new space captures both the grit of our Owensboro origins and the spirit of play, surprise and community that defines us now,” Lofted Spirits and Green River Master Blender Dan Callway said in a statement.
Callway became the brand’s Master Blender in May 2025, according to Fred Minnick.
The whiskey brand is owned by Lofted Spirits company, and it shared that throughout the space, Green River “relics” will be placed for guests to learn all about the brand’s heritage that dates back to 1885.
With warehouse lighting, copper tanks and a horseshoe-shaped cocktail bar that pays homage to Green River’s logo, the space offers a stage for live music and other experiences.
“For 140 years, Green River Distilling Co. has built a history of quality, approachability and resilience,” CEO of Lofted Spirits Mark Erwin said in a statement. “The Whiskey Row experience will raise the spirits of enthusiasts and bourbon newcomers while becoming a welcoming spot for locals to unwind.”
In addition to offering regular spirits tastings and cocktails, Green River offers guests the ability to experience the brand’s signature candy bar pairing, taste customizable flights and more. The space additionally houses an engraving machine, so guests can personalize any bottles they happen to buy while on site.
For those looking for a truly distinctive experience, Green River’s tasting room houses a secret speakeasy called “Dept. of Spirit Preservation,” which features bespoke cocktails and a “Fill Your Spirits” decanter experience, where guests can fill a ceramic jug from the 1890s with their choice of Green River whiskey straight from the barrel for $79.99.
The tasting room is just a stone’s throw away from Bardstown Bourbon Company, another brand under the Lofted Spirits umbrella.
