Country music singer Chris Stapleton and Buffalo Trace’s whiskey brand, Traveller, announced some “game-changing” news on Thursday. The whiskey brand is now the First Official Whiskey of Major League Baseball. The country singer shared that the partnership was a fairly organic move.

“Whenever we’re on the road and it happens to line up, we go to baseball games. It’s become a bit of a tradition over the years. We love to experience all the different ballparks and enjoy the culture of whatever baseball town we happen to be in,” Stapleton shared. “My wife and I even went to Game Six of the World Series once on our anniversary. Needless to say, I’m thrilled Traveller Whiskey is going to be the Official Whiskey of MLB.”

Buffalo Trace shared that the “360-degree partnership” will involve brand promotions across various multimedia outlets, including fan activations at games and broadcasts. Other activations will occur across social and digital content.

Traveller Whiskey launched in February 2024, and the brand has won multiple awards since its debut. The organic partnership stemmed from Stapleton’s love of Buffalo Trace and his relationship with the brand’s Master Distiller, Harlen Wheatley. This year marks a milestone with partnerships, and the brand partnered with JR Motorsports for the Daytona 500 in January, according to Sports Illustrated.

“Harlen, Chris and the Buffalo Trace team have created this standout brand in a very competitive, popular space, and we’re excited to work with them,” said MLB Chief Marketing Officer & Senior Vice President, Global Corporate Partnerships Uzma Rawn. “Between record levels of MLB fan engagement, All-Star Week in Atlanta and the Speedway Classic at Bristol Motor Speedway, this is a great year for Traveller and MLB to start working together.”

Traveller is the first whiskey to partner with Major League Baseball (MLB) and the brand wants all baseball fans — 21 and up of course — to join in on the fun of America’s favorite pastime.

“Like a perfect swing or a game-changing slider, developing a great whiskey is an art form that demands passion, time and dedication to master,” Global Brand Director for Traveller Whiskey Andrew Duncan said in a statement. “Starting this summer, we’re bringing that same spirit to ballparks across the country — where unforgettable moments, world-class whiskey and America’s pastime come together. We’re excited to introduce MLB fans to baseball’s newest tradition, Traveller Whiskey.”
