Buffalo Trace announced on Friday the release of the second Weller Millennium and Weller 18 Year Old just in time for the 200th anniversary of the man behind the brand’s namesake — William Larue Weller’s — 200th birthday.

About Weller Millennium 2nd Edition

Weller Millennium’s inaugural release dropped in May 2024, while making quite the splash. The second edition of this whiskey is a blend of 2001, 2003 and 2006 wheated bourbons and whiskeys.

At the turn of the millennium, the team at Buffalo Trace set the liquid aside with the release in mind, and it clocks in at 99 proof. The second edition of Weller Millennium hosts a suggested retail price of $7,500. It rests in a handmade crystal decanter coupled with an illuminated display case. Just a few are available for purchase at the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Kentucky. For those who can’t make it out to the Bluegrass state, some bottles are available for purchase at Legacy De Forge.

“Weller Millennium was crafted to feature some of the first whiskeys distilled in the new millennium amid a period of transformation at Buffalo Trace Distillery,” said Buffalo Trace Distillery Global Brand Director Andrew Duncan in a statement. “This second edition takes last year’s release a step further, with a new blend that we humbly believe is an improvement over the well-regarded first edition. By carefully selecting and blending barrels dating back to the early 2000’s, we have revisited a chapter in the Distillery’s history that shaped who we are today.”

Weller Millennium Second Edition offers notes of dark cherry, butterscotch, and vanilla over an oak backbone, according to the brand. The whiskey has a bold finish that lingers for an age, according to Buffalo Trace.

About Weller 18 Year Old

Priced at $499, Weller 18 Year Old earns the title of the oldest age-stated whiskey within the brand’s portfolio. Clocking in at 90 proof, the whiskey is available at Global Travel retail including Los Angeles International (LAX)

“Weller 18 Year Old is the culmination of curiosity, tradition and time,” Buffalo Trace Master Distiller Harlen Wheatley said in a statement. “The softness of the wheat has evolved into something rich and wonderfully expressive. We are extremely proud of the resulting whiskey, which showcases the versatility and potential of a wheat-forward mashbill.”

Weller 18 Year Old has a nose full of aged fruit and tobacco. On the pour, the brand shares it possesses baking spice flavors with green orchard fruit like pear, and it has plenty of balanced depth.
